Portraiture contraversal in photographic circles.

There is a fashion for close intimate photographs against a white background, showing a family with its dog, in a number of improbable poses. These images are very fashionable and sell for many hundreds of pounds.

PhotosXtra believe that portraiture should set out to explain the sitter, indeed to show an insight into what makes them tick. We hope that the thumbnails above support that view. If not please look at more of our work in the Gallery.

PhotosXtra prefers to shoot the sitter in their own environment, and to use clues from their own world to help explain their personality.

Of course we can do the white background in the studio, but that is not our preference.
